Frenchman Street

There is jazz

Coming from

Young Black boys

On the street corner, and

I am in a bookshop, leafing

Through the pages of

Over-priced, water-warped

Novels from the eighties.

It is somewhere between

Eight and ten p.m.;

People are outside;

The city is humid and

Hopping and

Alive.
